Stewart Alsgard is a long-time public servant and community advocate with deep roots in Powell River. He served as mayor of Powell River from 1999 to 2008, during which time he helped lead key initiatives focused on sustainable development, community health, and public access to services. His leadership was marked by a strong commitment to civic responsibility and building partnerships across sectors.
Before his time as mayor, Stewart held positions in both the RCMP and the Ministry of Forests, gaining valuable experience in law enforcement, resource management, and provincial governance. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his integrity, practical problem-solving, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of the Powell River region.
Now serving as Vice-President on the board of the Powell River Brain Injury Society, Stewart brings his decades of leadership and public service experience to support individuals and families affected by brain injury. His involvement reflects a continued commitment to community care, advocacy, and building inclusive, resilient support networks.
